Please join us at Fantagraphics Bookstore on Monday, February 19th for a special installment of Short Run's ongoing “Show Up” artist talk series. This event coincides with the declaration of Executive Order 9066 in 1942 that uprooted the lives of thousands of Japanese Americans throughout the Pacific Northwest, forcing them into isolated internment camps under brutal conditions. The evening features three local artists with recent graphic novels addressing this travesty: Josh Tuninga (We Are Not Strangers), Ross Ishikawa (We Hereby Refuse), and Miya Sukune (Searching for Saito). They'll discuss their artistic practice related to these works, including comix influences, historic research, visual references, and more. Free for all ages.
